Phonics and Reading Schemes

At Wavendon Gate School we use Letters and Sounds as our method for teaching Phonics although we do use other schemes to meet the needs of individual children.

We use the Oxford Reading Tree Reading Scheme, as well as a variety of 'real books' that have been carefully graded using the Book Band System. This ensures that children enjoy and experience a wide range of genres at our school.

We follow the National Curriculum for all subjects in Key Stage 1 and 2. A link to this document can be found under the 'links' icon, and our termly objectives and curriculum coverage newsletters can be found in the Class Pages on our website.
