World Book Day

Thank you for all the fantastic effort that went into making World Book Day such a wonderful event with costumes and favourite books. The children thoroughly enjoyed drama, character descriptions, sharing stories and swapping books. The most exciting part was, of course, admiring each others costumes!

Well done to our most recent Subject Stars, Jack for his reading , Kai for his rocket building for his homework and Cris for his African animal motif design.

Supporting your child's home learning

Thank you to everyone that came to our parent support session, I hope you found it valuable. For those of you that were unable to make it, please find the Powerpoint used at the meeting below which includes ideas for supporting your child at home with their learning. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to talk to myself or Miss Hollowell.

Year 1 is fun!

Here we are in our outdoor P.E. lesson where we have been learning how to gallop, it was the most amazing fun.

Year 1 Phonics

As Phonics is such an important skill for young children, the section below will provide resources, links and additional information covering how to approach teaching phonics and how to support your child's development at home. Phonics encompasses all aspects of literacy and is applied in writing, reading and spelling. Before your child can read and write, they must be confident in their ability to recognise and identify sounds, as well as being able to segment and blend these sounds to create words and say them with fluency.

All children in Year 1 will sit a Phonics Screening Test in June. To maximise the chances of your child passing, please continue to support their learning of phonics at home.
