Supporting your child's home learning
Thank you to everyone that came to our parent support session, I hope you found it valuable. For those of you that were unable to make it, please find the Powerpoint used at the meeting below which includes ideas for supporting your child at home with their learning. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to talk to myself or Miss Hollowell.
As Phonics is such an important skill for young children, the section below will provide resources, links and additional information covering how to approach teaching phonics and how to support your child's development at home. Phonics encompasses all aspects of literacy and is applied in writing, reading and spelling. Before your child can read and write, they must be confident in their ability to recognise and identify sounds, as well as being able to segment and blend these sounds to create words and say them with fluency.
All children in Year 1 will sit a Phonics Screening Test in June. To maximise the chances of your child passing, please continue to support their learning of phonics at home.
