Recent events

) In computing we have been using the new chrome books to learn how to login to TT Rockstars and My Maths. We have also been learning how to code using Lightbot and Bee bots.

In English we have just started looking at instruction texts. Here we are reading recipes to each other helping each other to decode and explain any new words.

In History we have been studying the 1940's era and looking at how they way of life was different then. We have also been talking about WW2 and the effects of rationing and we are looking forward to our role play Evacuation Day at Holdenby House. Please ask if you need help to make a gas box.

In Maths we have been working hard and learning how to add and subtract using a tens frame to help us. We have also discussed other ways of showing our calculations using a part whole model or a bead string.

Here is the music if you wish to do a show at home!

Charleston Dance

Still image for this video
In PE we have been working with a dance specialist Miss Wendy to learn all about dances from the 1940s and we made up our own modern day Charleston. We hope you enjoy it.

Spellings

Keep trying to learn those all important common exception words!

You could:

-  Write them in different colour pens (Rainbow spellings)

-  Put them on post-its and hide them around the house. When you find a word, spell it and win it!

-  Use magnetic letters to spell 5 of the words on the fridge each week

-  Use foam letters in the bath or shower to spell the words, or just use your finger and the bubbles!

-  'Paint' spellings onto pavements or fences in the garden with an old paintbrush and water

-  Paint your spellings onto big sheets of paper

- For those of you who like getting messy, fill a baking tray with shaving foam or a little cornflour and water, and        write your spellings in the mixture.

- Find your spellings in a newspaper or magazine, cut them out and collect them

For a list of the words visit:
