Wavendon Gate School

Our Crufts experience

On Friday 11th March – Ruby and I were chosen to attend Crufts to promote dogs coming into school through the Kennel Club on their ‘Bark and Read’ stand. We have attended before and again it was a fantastic day out promoting something we love.  Ruby as usual took it all in her stride.  She was exhausted at the end of the day!

Ruby will be a part of the Wavendon Gate School Community for a long time.  We love our work and time together seeing the children’s confidence and ability grow each session.

We are pleased to welcome Ruby, our reading dog to Wavendon Gate School.

Ruby is a Border Collie and a qualified Canine Concern Therapy dog owned by Mrs Kok, our behaviour mentor.  Ruby comes into school every Wednesday.  She sits with the children, supporting reading in groups.  Research has illustrated that this can assist with confidence and well-being.

Ruby is fully trained, insured and covered by health and safety standards.  Please click here http://www.canineconcern.co.uk/ for more information.

We love this true story about Google the Reading Dog by Sandy Childs.  Sadly Google is no longer alive but he has been immortalised in this moving story!
