Welcome to our school

We warmly welcome applications from families who would like their children to join our school. We are a primary school for children aged 4–11 years and are always delighted to hear from parents and carers who are considering our school for their child.

Our admissions process is managed by Milton Keynes City Council. The Council is responsible for allocating places in accordance with the published admission arrangements.

We encourage prospective families to find out more about our school and contact us if they would like further information or to arrange a visit.

Starting school – Reception admissions

Children normally start Reception in September following their fourth birthday. This means that children are admitted to school in the September of the academic year in which they turn five.

Applications for Reception places are made through Milton Keynes City Council as part of the normal primary school admissions process.

Parents and carers should apply by the published closing date. Applications are considered in accordance with the Council's coordinated admissions arrangements and the school's published admission criteria.

How to apply

Applications can be made online through the Milton Keynes City Council website:

The Council's website provides information about application deadlines, how to express school preferences and when offers will be made.

Our catchment area

Our school serves the communities of Wavendon Gate and Old Farm Park.

Priority for admission is given to children living within the school's designated catchment area, in accordance with the published oversubscription criteria.

We also welcome applications from families living outside our catchment area. However, living within the catchment area does not guarantee a place at the school, as all applications are considered in accordance with the published admission arrangements.

Parents and carers can check their designated catchment school through the Milton Keynes City Council website.

In-year admissions – joining us during the school year

If you would like your child to join our school in a year group other than Reception, you can apply for an in-year school place.

In-year applications may be made at any point during the academic year. Places are offered subject to availability and the school's published admission arrangements.

Milton Keynes City Council coordinates in-year applications for community and voluntary-controlled schools.

If you are considering moving your child to our school, we recommend contacting us to discuss the process and find out more about the school.

Further information and details of how to apply are available on the Milton Keynes City Council in-year admissions webpage.

Please be aware that a place cannot be guaranteed, even if your child lives within our catchment area.

How places are allocated

If the number of applications received is greater than the number of places available, applications will be considered in accordance with the school's published oversubscription criteria.

These criteria establish the order in which places are allocated when a school receives more applications than it has places available.

The criteria include priority for looked-after and previously looked-after children, followed by other categories such as children living within the catchment area and those with siblings already attending the school.

The full admission arrangements, including the precise order of priority and how distance is measured, are published by Milton Keynes City Council.

Please refer to the Council's website for the current admission arrangements:

Our admission number

Our school has a total capacity of 420 pupils, with a published admission number (PAN) of 60 children in each year group.

This means that our normal Reception intake is 60 children, subject to the admission arrangements.

Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

We welcome applications for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Children with SEND are considered fairly and in accordance with the School Admissions Code and the school's published admission arrangements.

An application for a mainstream school place will not be refused simply because a child has special educational needs or disabilities.

Where a child has an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan, the arrangements for admission are different. The school named in the plan must admit the child, in accordance with the relevant statutory requirements.

If you would like further information about SEND provision in Milton Keynes, please visit the:

We encourage parents and carers to contact us if they would like to discuss their child's individual needs or find out more about the support available at our school.

Moving on to secondary school – Year 6

At the end of Year 6, children transfer to secondary school.

Parents and carers will need to apply for a secondary school place through Milton Keynes City Council during the autumn term of Year 6.

Children living within the Wavendon Gate catchment area would usually transfer to Walton High, although families may express preferences for other secondary schools.

Further information about secondary school admissions, application deadlines and the allocation process is available from the Council's School Admissions Team.

What if my application is unsuccessful?

If your application for a place at our school is unsuccessful, you have the right to appeal against the decision.

The appeals process is independent of the admission authority. An independent appeal panel will consider the circumstances of your case and the reasons why you would like your child to attend the school.

Information about how to appeal, including the relevant forms, deadlines and guidance, is available from:

You can also contact the Council's School Admissions Team for advice.
